RENEE

Naarm Melbourne / Venue & Events Manager
I run a small brewery bar in Abbotsford and am looking forward to two weeks isolation.

I was making a cup of tea for a drag queen. I couldn't get the temperature right. I was embarrassed. Through the door came a weka (a flightless bird of Aotearoa), with a peanut biscuit in it's beak, the kind mum used to make for our lunch boxes. The weka had human eyes that plead with desperation that I would take the biscuit. I felt the weka would die if I did not take it, and I would if I did. I turned and ran in horror, bumping into things in my path. I woke up with a jolt.
